Philips HTS-3565 Review (HTS3565D/37), Part I

The HTS3565D/37 is a cheap home theater system by Philips is found at virtually any local Walmart, Target, as well as Best Buy stores. Do not let the low price discourage you from buying this high quality and high performing home theater system. The Philips HTS3565 is the latest replacement model from the previous surprisingly successful HTS3555 and HTS3544. This home theater in a box package includes a DVD receiver, four satellite speakers, one center speaker, and one 8" subwoofer.Upconversion Capability
The Philips HTS3565 is capable of upscaling or upconverting regular DVD movies to full HD 1080p resolution. Upconversion is an ability of certain DVD players that is able to convert 480p standard DVD resolution to 780p, 1080i, or 1080p HD resolution. This is highly useful for large HDTV that are capable of larger resolution HD images. Unfortunately, most standard DVD movies end up looking stretched and grainy. But with upconversion, standard DVD movies will end up looking like near HD quality images.

Though you do have the option in spending hundreds of dollars more on HD DVD players or BluRay, but the competition is still incredibly high for the two HD-quality players that most people do not look forward to investing much money into an unknown future of the two brands. But take it from our experience, the upconversion capabilities of the HTS3565 looks great. We tested the unit with the movie i-Robot starring Will Smith. The picture looks incredibly clear and looks great on a large widescreen HDTV.
